Unlike most of my original designs that are inspired by old TV or movie props, the inspiration for The Needler came from a scifi novel. The book gave no physical description of The Needler, other than the fact if fired  needle thin compressed energy bolts. I scratch-built this sci-fi sidearm from styrene sheet plastic, plus some odds and ends from my spare parts box. The ray gun has a simple humming sound effect and selectable blue or green LED 'beam' (actually this casts no beam, just lights up the acryllic tip).
