This is a piece of the the original Millenium Falcon set from Star Wars: A New Hope (1977). This set piece was used in the cockpit scenes, and was part of the cockpit control section seen in the background when Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca fly the Falcon.The production crew created moulds from light fittings used in 1970s cars to create this fixture. The resin counterpart was then painted grey and dusted with silver to create a metallic finish. Several of these included working lights and some were for aesthetical purposes only. This was used as a non-light version.Prop pieces from the first Star Wars movie are incredibly rare and very difficult to find. This set piece is accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from Elstree studios where most of the movie was made - it also accompanies 2 corresponding production stills showing the cockpit and the filming of it at the George Lucas stage in Elstree.
