Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, Matte painting study of the Return of the Jedi Docking Bay
original production material
This is a Return of the Jedi, matte painting study from Frank Ordaz. A shot of the docking bay, when Darth vader shuttle arrives in the opening of the movie.
He did this prior to do the final matte painting, in order to match colors and angle with the live action shot. The composite is a mix of an enlarged frame with live action shot, where you can see some extras dresssed as officials in groups like chatting (in the final scene they are line for receiving Vader), and then, surrounding, the painting done in acrylics.
Frank Ordaz doing the final painting, where you can see behind him this study artwork.
