MISTER ED's LEGS! ---- Yes... the Mister Ed, TV's talking horse. These are 100% original and authentic FILMWAYS production-used artifacts...prop 'horse legs', from the TV classic, MISTER ED, which starred Alan Young and Connie Hines.
These "stunt legs" are real mounted palamino legs, fitted with handles on the top for puppet-like manipulation, used for close-up leg stunts for the camera. I have found them in many episodes: putting a golf ball, hitting a gas pedal, stomping, etc.). They were likely used for lighting set-up as well, before the horse came in. ------ The above photos show a screen match of the legs, in the episode THE BANK ROBBERY, where Ed stomps on veteran Hollywood heavy MARC LAWRENCE's foot.
The upper photos are from the episode ED,THE PILOT (Season5/ep#6), where the right stunt "Ed leg" was used to show a close-up of Ed 'hitting the gas' (like a car) while piloting an airplane! ----- The lower left pic is a great Thanksgiving publicity photo of 'Indian' Wilbur and Ed in stocks. Note the prop legs sticking straight out of the stocks in front of Ed; the horse is actually standing BEHIND the stocks. I received this still from Alan Young...yes, Wilbur Post himself. ---- MISTER ED was played by a palamino named Bamboo Harvester. Filmways was the production company that hatched such classics as The Addams Family, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Green Acres. ------ I collect authentic, original props/costumes from vintage and classic productions that I enjoy.
