Luke's lightsaber saw a few changes in its transition to episode 5. Firstly, the prop is a mirror image of the first with respect to the control box/graflex band. The calculator LED lenses were replaced with an eched control panel that resembles a circuit board, the glass eye on the botton was also replaced with a red button. The number of hand grips were reduced from 7 to 6 and had to be bolted to the pommel due to the extreme cold of Iceland which caused the glue to crack and fail to adhere. Master Replicas' engineers were provided with source materials from LucasFilm archives to recreate Luke's weapon from The Empire Strikes back.
