progressiv insurance commercial tv spot, Lifesize ET lightup Puppet Display
original movie prop
A light-up, full-size ET used in a 1999 Progressive Insurance advert, also starring real-life astronauts Buzz Aldrin (Apollo 11) and Jim Lovell (Apollo 8 and Apollo 13).
In the advert, ET and his friends discuss ‘Earthlings’ and their need for car insurance. The puppet is largely made of foam latex skin around a metal and wood skeleton. The piece is wired so that the chest lights up, as it does in the film, when supplied with power.
The model is attached to a wooden base that has been painted green. It has some wear from age and production use, most notably the split at the back of the neck above where the electronics are house. Some of the latex skin has begun to crack and the paint wear away. Although the model does light up, the electronics get hot very quickly and should not be turned on for extended periods.
Materials: Wood, Ferrous Metals, Foam Latex, Rubber.
Due to the large size of this piece, customers should request a shipping quote before ordering.
As this item contains electronic components, every effort has been made to describe them accurately. However, no guarantee or warranty is made as to the functionality, lifespan or safety of those components. It is entirely incumbent on the new owner to satisfy themselves as to their safe use and maintenance.
