The Electric Horseman, Las Vegas Ampco Dancer Outfit
original movie costume
This item was used in the movie "The Electric Horseman" in 1979. Sonny Steele was played by Robert Redford in the movie. This one piece outfit is black and white pin striped overall shorts with red and silver sequences around all of the edges. Elizabeth F. wore this outfit for the original filming and her name is written in thin permanent marker in the back of the outfit. This item is in really good condition considering its age.
This outfit is a key item from a very memorable scene in the movie, when Sonny rides on a Las Vegas stage with a suit and champion horse covered in lights from head to toes. He is supposed to be advertising for Ampco and at the very beginning of this scene there are about five Ampco Company dancers wearing construction hats on stage. Sonny decides that he is not meant for this kind of life of a rodeo star and advertiser and at the same time he also feels bad that the horse that he is riding on was drugged and treated badly. He steals the horse and rides off into the desert to set himself and the horse free forever. This item was originally purchased through an Ebay auction and the COA is through Hollywood Rock-N-Country. Wardrobe tag included!
