Krampus, Krampus’ Bell Bauble
original movie prop
The sound of this bell will strike fear into the hearts of those who know what it means. Krampus is coming.
While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. From the 2015 film Krampus, this is Krampus’ Bell Bauble seen multiple times throughout the film. The first time is when Omi explains the creature hunting them is Krampus, an ancient demonic spirit who punishes those who have lost the Christmas spirit. Omi recounts that when she was a child, her parents and community lost their spirit, as did she, summoning Krampus. He dragged everyone except her to Hell, leaving behind a bell bauble with his name on it. We then see it again when Krampus confronts Max giving him a bell bauble wrapped in a piece of his discarded letter, and when Max awakens in his house on Christmas morning discovering his family alive and well. Believing that what happened was just a nightmare until he unwraps a present containing Krampus' bauble, and the family collectively remembers the previous night to their horror. This Bell was obtained from a crew member that was gifted it before WETA produced the replicas and has various differences when compared.
