Star Trek: The Next Generation, Klingon D'K Tahg - Static Hero

This is a Klingon D'K Tahg made for the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 'Redemption' and later used in the Voyager episode 'Prophecy'.

The story behind this piece is that the prop house was asked to make one static, metal-bladed, D'K Tahg for TNG but decided to make two. One belonged to the production and one belonged to the prop maker (Steve Horch). The design was to be a re-creation of the knife used to kill David Marcus in ST:III (though there is a mild color variation in the TNG version). Now . . . since the TNG episode 'Redemption' (Part One) had so many high-end Klingon costumes, the production gladly accepted the loan of the second knife while they were filming. It is unknown which of the two identical knives were used in the final cut. At the end of shooting one of the two knives was returned to prop maker. Then . . . during the 7th season of Voyager, for the filming of 'Prophecy', many ST-III-era-ish Klingons needed to be outfitted and the studio-owned static D'K Tahg was dusted off and they asked the prop maker if he would loan his to the show - he did. One of the two disappeared and the remaining one was returned to the prop owner. So, which of the two is this? Nobody knows. But it's mine now.
