Pacific Rim, Kaiju Organ
original movie prop
A Large SFX Kaiju Organ on an Autopsy Table from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorize earth, so humans build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. This item can be seen in the K-Lab of the Shatterdome during the early scene in which Dr. Newton Geiszler (Charlie Day) compares a Kaiju sample from the attack in Sydney with a sample from the Kaiju attack in Manila. During the sequence, Newton dissects this over sized organ and tosses its entrails onto another table.
This massive piece is constructed from a silicone skin over a fiberglass frame with a plywood base. The silicone surface is blue and purple in color with a unique alien shaped surfaces. This item has been outfitted with tubing that allowed the production to seep slime from the interior, and also includes a wired compartment for a 9 volt battery, however it is unknown if the electronics currently function.
The organ resides on a Market Forge Boston Pneumatic Cadaver Autopsy Table that is made from stainless steel and capable of rolling on a base outfitted with casters. This lot shows some wear to the silicone due to production use and storage, however the piece remains in overall very good condition. This piece measures 48” x 88” x 70” (122 cm x 224 cm x 178 cm).
