The Dark Knight, Joker's (Heath Ledger) Knife
original movie prop
When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, the caped crusader must come to terms with one of the greatest psychological tests of his ability to fight injustice. This is Joker's main stunt knife; a Smith & Wesson Extractor 1600 out-the-front automatic knife. Originally the knife was used to hold a Joker card in place on the body of a Batman impostor found hanging outside the mayor's office but was replaced with a safety pin in the final cut. Considering his arsenal of weapons, you see this knife throughout the film in many scenes as Joker’s weapon of choice. This style stunt knife was used a majority of time on set to assure the actor’s safety from using a real knife that could cause an injury. In the film, the Joker is known as a maniacal and enigmatic criminal mastermind portraying himself as an "agent of chaos", who rises to dominant power by terrorizing Gotham and plunging it into anarchy.
