Hole 3D, Jester Animatronic Hero Puppet
original movie prop
This is a cable-controlled jester puppet used in the 2009 Joe Dante horror film The Hole. The puppet can be seen throughout the film terrorizing Lucas (Nathan Gamble), a boy who is afraid of clowns, after it appears in his bedroom, then in the basement and seemingly has a life of its’ own. At the film’s climax, the puppet magically comes to life and has an extended fight sequence with Lucas in the boy's basement where the hole is located.
This creepy puppet is made of foam latex over a sturdy skeletal frame and features resin eyes and teeth as well as a full, multi-colored jester costume. The green, gold, purple, and red costume is made of a satin-like fabric and features numerous small gold bells fastened to the four-point hat, as well as on the attached gold rope belt.
The most exciting aspect of this piece are the still-attached cable controls, allowing the arms and fingers, when triggers are depressed, to move smoothly, bringing this startling piece to life! The puppet comes with a custom made acrylic stand. The puppet’s foam latex has been intentionally distressed and aged for production and the very tips of the feet are no longer present, possibly having been removed for a specific purpose during filming, however this piece remains in overall fair condition. Measures approximately 27" x 17" (69cm x 43cm.)
