As Jawas are opportunistic scavengers of machinery, their weapons are generally used to incapacitate (but not destroy) wayward droids that they encounter. Most are cobbled together from parts of other weapons that they find. This one, used by the Jawa Dathcha to immobilize and deactivate R2-D2 in the Jundland Wastes of Tatooine, began as a standard blaster rifle, with its laser assembly removed and an ion accelerator installed. Jawa blasters were notoriously unreliable and only useful at short range. It's not surprising then that Dathcha's entire clan was subsequently slaughtered by Stormtroopers looking for the droids they'd recently sold.

As with the screen used prop, the base component of this replica is an authentic deactivated WW II .303 cal Lee-Enfield Rifle No.1 Mk III*, with the barrel, stock and butt shortened and the rifle's grenade launcher attached. Functional bolt, hammer, and trigger, and removable clip. Surprisingly heavy.
