Javert's (Russell Crowe) stunt sword fight tailcoat from Tom Hooper's Academy Award®-winning musical drama Les Misérables. Based on the classic novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables tells the story of reformed convict Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) and his attempts to leave his criminal past behind him, constantly dogged by the persistent and ruthless Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe).
Javert wore his coat at the hospital during a swordfight with Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) in an attempt to take him into custody after Valjean broke his parole. Made from a navy blue wool, this tailcoat has a black woollen edging along the collar, cuffs and hem. Several white embroidered fleur-de-lis symbols are present on the collar and hem and the coat features many brass buttons and a hook and eye fastening located on the collar. An 'Academy Costumes' label is located inside the collar and a couple of handwritten labels on the inside.
