Les Miserables, Javert (Russell Crowe) Inspectors Uniform
original movie costume
Javert is seen wearing his inspectors uniform when witnessing the strength of Jean Valjean and suspecting his identity as an ex-prisoner who had broken parole. The costume consists of a long coat, beige suede trousers, a blue waistcoat and a pair of black leather gloves. The navy blue wax coat is double-breasted, features brass buttons on the front and has long vents in the back. The trousers display white braces and black Lycra cuffs with stirrups. The woollen waistcoat features brass buttons with a white embroidered fleur-de-lis pattern on the collar and black lacing on the back. The waistcoat and trousers feature labels with the word ‘double’ written in black and the gloves have ‘cosprop’ written on the inside.
The costume displays signs of wear including several marks all over the costume from distressing and the trousers are split at the front seam underneath the zip. However, in spite of this wear, the costume remains in very good condition.
