Throughout Season 4, people were searching for the three elements. The map for the stones first appeared hidden behind a 14th century manuscript. Once the stones were united it formed the Crystal of Knowledge which is capable of creating the Fortress of Solitude. Everyone wanted the power, but Clark was successful.
