This is truly amazing, a portable television studio!
Qualifying as a design classic, and iconic of the 80s in no small part due to its prominence in this movie, the GR-C1 was the original, definitive camcorder. Introduced in 1984, it featured instant playback, Saticon camera tube, mini CRT viewfinder, zoom with manual focus, 30 minute VHS-C tape recording, and a 20 minute NiCad battery. All this for around $2000! At the time, many engineers thought it was about as compact as a video movie camera could get.
