Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones Bullwhip
replica movie prop
This authentic bullwhip was crafted with reference to the David Morgan 450 series whips used by Indy in his first adventure. The Morgan Indy whip combined American and Australian style and construction, and was supplied to the production in a range of sizes from 6' to 16', with 10' being the onscreen standard. Although most screen-used whips were made of kangaroo hide, the US import embargo on kangaroo skins in place from 1973 to 1981 required Morgan to turn to kip hide for the first whips used in Raiders (as Morgan himself has confirmed.)
This is a 10' kip hide whip, in natural tan (as were the originals), now darkening with sun and use. 12 plait overlay, 2 plaited bellies, 2 bolsters. 8" lead-weighted steel spike butt foundation. Ring knot 7-8" from the end; later Indy whips saw this decreased to 6-7", making the 'handle' appear shorter. American style 6 strand point with Australian style fall and cracker.
