The Imperious Leader's winged lizard pet originated from a cheap plastic toy which received a complete new paint job, since the original colors were red and yellow. The two wings were expertly molded and added later as well. Unfortunately, the whole concept of the Imperious Leader's holding a pet never came to full fruition due to the avoidance of showing any close-up shots of him during the original series.
