Aeon Flux, Hero Shock Trooper Rifle
original movie prop weapon
This is the Hero version of the Shock Trooper Rifle. This version actually 'works'. When you push the trigger button, the barrel assembly actually rotates as seen on screen. There is also a series of air-pistons inside the gun that when actuated (with external compressed air) will cause the grenade launcher on the bottom to display a 'pump-like' action to simulate firing (which I never saw used in the movie) and a couple of what appear to be counter-weights (maybe to simulate the motion associated with firing a weapon like this?). There is also an air tube that goes up to the front barrels that will launch projectiles that would have to be pre-loaded into the barrels (watch the movie, they never shoot more than 4 or 5 rounds in one shot). Pretty cool, and much more hefty than the stunt version. Also, note the visual difference between this and the stunt versions is all the screws on the side of the gun. These can be fairly easily seen on screen.
The second image is a few more screen shots of this gun in action. Even though I believe air-pressure is used to actually launch projectiles out of the six little barrels, I'm pretty sure the flame effects were all CGI/post production. And again, note the easily identified screws on screen.

Very nice prop! The machined aluminum rotating barrels are particularly cool.
