The cylinder is made of aluminum with grooves around its circumference and applications for detail. A button on the bottom activates twinkling magenta and blue lights at the tip and through the holes around the top. It is powered by two watch style batteries. The prop can be seen in the Star trek: Voyager season four episode titled "Random Thoughts". Larger and much heavier than one would expect.
