These really tiny props are two of the little capsule shaped implant devices like the one that Denzil Washington digs out of his shoulder. These particular ones actually open up to reveal some little metal plates inside. You never see them opened on screen, so I'm assuming there was a scene just before we see the microscope view of it where the actors open it up to see what's in it...
