Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) Sfx Spell Book

original movie prop

A special effects spell book used by Haleh (Katrina Browne) & Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) in the sixth season Hercules episode 7: "A Wicked Good Time". In the episode The Goddess Discord needs a third witch to join Haleh and Sariah, and Seska, a troubled teen, seemed the perfect choice. Now Seska could take revenge on Magnus, the town bully. Hercules arrives to protect Seska from harm after Haleh frames her for witchcraft, for which the sentence is death. Haleh uses the book of spells to summon Neibros, an evil warlock. But Seska had a change of heart and helps Hercules by undoing the spell. The book is made of a solid block of Styrofoam painted on the page edges, the front cover is made of a thin engraved distressed metal sheet backed by thick cardboard and surrounded with a leatherette material which also makes up the spine. There is a thin metal tube running though the book which gave off an effect when Neibros attacks Hercules at the end of the episode. The back cover is the same metal plate only blank. This spell book can be screenmatched to the final scene of the episode where Haleh (Katrina Browne) attacks Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) due to imperfections in the metal on the cover of the book. In the center of the book cover has a stain due to the effects of light produced that match on screen when Hercules hold the book.
