In first season episode Instinct, filmed in the shakycam style of a small news team caught up in the investigation, Henry uses this device to help the Sanctuary team track a dangerously fast and aggressive giant insect Abnormal trapped inside a shipping warehouse. Different hot-swappable scanheads provide for motion tracking and organic compound tracking functions.

Stained wood and painted resin handle and base, with electrical wire detailing.  Two different resin, metal and acrylic scanheads, representing the motion sensor and organic analyzer, can be alternately plugged into the front of the device.  The broad curved scanhead has switchable internal red illlumination, as seen onscreen. A small PDA was present within the base display area, although the device has since been removed.
