Star Wars: A New Hope, Han Solo Greedo Killer Blaster
replica movie prop
You can tell that to Jabba. He may only take your ship.
Over my dead body.
That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time.
Yes, I'll bet you have...
As overconfident bounty hunter Greedo threatens him in the Mos Eisley cantina, Han Solo gradually withdraws his DL-44 from its holster under the table. The closeup, lasting just a few seconds, shows a considerably different weapon from the one Han carries in the rest of the movie. When additional footage had to be filmed on return to Hollywood after principal photography, none of the original converted firearms crafted in England had returned with cast and crew to the US.
To create an acceptable approximation, a Japanese MGC replica 'Broomhandle' Mauser pistol was used, with the scope consisting of a Japanese Compac Super 4x31 hunting rifle scope modified to more closely resemble the first prop's German Wetzlar Dialyt 3X scope. The flash suppressor used was also different, taken from an M3 grease gun rather than an MG 81 machine gun as with the first prop, although this was removed during filming in any case, presumably to facilitate smooth removal of the pistol from its holster.
This replica has been crafted with many of the original prop components, including an MGC Mauser with working trigger, hammer and safety; authentic Compac Super 4x31 scope, with accurate modifications; M3 grease gun flash suppressor, and Weaver scope rings. With custom designed and machined scope mount, and limited-run metal heat sink.
Build, scope mount, and scope modifications by M. Hoffmann. Sourcing of original parts by myself. Metal heat sink from Corellian Exports. Hat tip to my brother Eric for an effective Germany->US shipping solution.
