V for Vendetta, Guy Fawkes Mask

The vigilante identified only as V wears this mask portraying the infamous Catholic conspirator who was caught attempting to blow up the English Parliament House of Lords during the opening session, at which Protestant King James would also be present, on 05 November 1605.  Perhaps not the best figure to turn to for inspiration or symbolism, as Fawkes was caught before he could do any damage, and subsequently gave up his co-conspirators under torture in the Tower of London. They were all caught, tried & sentenced, hung, and then drawn & quartered for good measure, within a few months.

This fiberglass replica was cast from new molds made from the original master hero mask, painted and finished by the original propmaker.
