Founded, owned, and operated by goblins, Gringotts is the only bank of the wizarding world. Although the bank's premiere function is providing secure storage for clients' valuables in its vast virtually impregnable vaults, it also mints its own currency, including the copper knut, silver sickle, and gold galleon, which can be exchanged for muggle money.

Identical to the screenused coins, these replicas come from the original propmaker Pobjoy Mint.  Of course, there's very little actual precious metal in the 'goldclad' and 'nickelon' coins. The copper knut is real enough though.
