The eyes are original movie props, but the skull is not!!! I repeat, the skull is NOT original (I used a gremlin skull model kit as a display for the eyes, a process which involved hacking off the original brows and sculpting a custom appliance out of air dry clay, a new skull cap that can be taken on and off to allow the removal of the eyes at any time). I painted it, and overall am very happy with the outcome! I am having a custom acrylic box made to display the skull and eyes.
This is a pair of original gremlin eyes!!! Obtained directly from a member of production, the eyes are a beautiful example of the work that went into the movie. I was told they were from a background Gremlin, and I find it astonishing that such detail was put into the background puppets!
These eyes still have small fragments of the original foam latex that the puppet was made out of, having long since become a victim of time. By far, my favourite item in my collection! I'm working on a custom display for the eyes, and when it is completed I'll post a new picture of them.
