Willow, Gen. Kael Helmet (George Lucas Super-Live Adventure)
replica movie prop
Here is a replica of General Kael's skull helmet from the film Willow (1988) This helmet was not used in the movie production but was created and used on stage for George Lucas' "Super-Live Adventure" Stage Show which ran in Japan from Late April-September 1993. This is indeed the very same Kael Skull Helmet previously displayed on here by another member, Deadite_Theron and was obtained directly from him. I can't thank him enough for everything. A very interesting story that goes with this: This prop was sold to him as an "Unknown Production" Prop from a Stage Prop Supplier who had it sitting in his possession for years and had no idea what the prop was or which movie/show it was from. Deadite_Theron recognized it immediately and rescued it from absolute obscurity, an awesome discovery. How the prop got from the George Lucas Stage Show in Japan to the Prop Supplier and how it could've sat completely unnoticed in such great condition for who knows how long is a mystery. So for all of the prop collectors, keep your eyes open because there really are some true gems waiting to be discovered out there, sometimes where you'd least expect to find them! There are some visual differences between this Replica and the one used in the film. The black headdress from the movie was replaced with a flowing dark red mane and the colors of his costume were also altered for the live show probably for better visibility onstage. Despite the massive overall size of the helmet, the screws & bolts inside of the mask create a very tight fit because of this it is unwearable without a few minor alterations inside. After watching/studying the footage this was most likely used at the end of the live Willow segment on the show. **Spoilers** Unlike the film, General Kael does not die after being stabbed and sent plunging to the bottom of the castle by Madmartigan, instead he reappears afterward for a final showdown with Madmartigan where he is decapitated by Madmartigan's sword, sending his head (Skull helmet and all) soaring below to the ground where a group of "Nelwyns" catch it and run off with it in celebration. The final showdown Kael looks to have been a prop/puppet where this helmet would have been attached for the final decapitation scene. Overall an amazing massive replica helmet with very minor wear & tear from the show, of one of the greatest villains to ever grace the screen with his badass baby-stealing presence. "I have the Chiiiiiild!!!" RIP Pat Roach (1937-2004) ***Please note this is part of my personal collection and is not for sale. Any questions or comments please feel free to write me anytime, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
