Queen Christina, Garbo Coin
original movie prop
A Swedish Thaler with the likeness of Great Garbo as Queen Christina. In the film, the Queen, being bored, rides out into the countryside and is mistaken for a boy by John Gilbert, the Spanish Ambassodor who is on his way to meet the Queen. Having had her men repair his carriage wheel, he tosses 'him' the coin as a tip which we see in close up in her hand. Later, they meet at an inn where they must share a room. When they officially meet at the Palace, she shows him the coin. The coin is presssed into a brass disc and is inscribed on the reverse: "C.C. Parker May 15, 1935".
