Xena: Warrior Princess, Gabrielle’s cuirass from “A Good Day”

This is Gabrielle’s screen-worn chest armor from the season 4 episode “A Good Day.” The costume comprises a heavy leather Roman-style cuirass featuring Renée O’Connor’s wardrobe tag and a plain leather cinch belt, both worn over Gabrielle’s main series costume. The gauntlets and the more detailed buckled belt seen in the episode were not present when this costume was auctioned by It’s A Wrap! in 2001. The production-used helmet is not Renée’s but just one of the same style and came from the 2002 IAW warehouse sale. When I was photographing this one, I was a bit startled to discover that there are still a number of blonde hair strands snagged in the rivets all over the cuirass, I can only assume left by Renée after production.
