Adam's Rib, From Famous Licorice Gun Eating Scene
original set dressing / pieces
From George Cukor's classic romantic comedy film "Adam's Rib" (1949), this is an original Eugene Berman style watercolor clearly seen in the movie starring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn as married lawyers who come to oppose each other in court. Seen in the famous licorice gun eating scene where Adam (Spencer Tracy) appears with a gun and threatens to shoot Amanda (Katharine Hepburn) and Kip (David Wayne). Originally from the famous David Weisz Co. auction of MGM in 1970 and has been in storage ever since until we recently identified it. The frame is also original and came with the original 1970 MGM auction tag and original David Weisz receipt. The watercolor was also probably used in other MGM productions that we hope to find soon. The film is considered a classic romantic comedy, being nominated for both AFI's 100 Movies and Passions lists, and coming in at #22 on the AFI's 100 Years...100 Laughs.
