String-mail top, sprayed silver, this stuff was heavily used in tv,cinema and theatre for over 60 years as a lightweight alternative to actors wearing real chainmail.

It is still used occasionally today for background artists, and can be seen in shows like Vikings and The Last Kingdom.

Robin of Sherwood used it heavily for all three years. This isn't directly from the production but would have been used on shows around the time, being made sometime in the late 70's/ early 1980's.
