In the 8-part Hellboy comic book story The Wild Hunt, Hellboy and Alice Monaghan are led into a trap by a fairy, in revenge for all the faerie creatures Hellboy has vanquished over his lifetime. The fairies attack with knives and poisoned darts, and although Hellboy is uninjured by the attack, Alice is struck by a dart, soon to die unless Big Red can somehow find an antidote in time.
