Stargate SG-1, FN P90 Personal Defense Weapon

replica movie prop weapon

Although many real-world weapons were seen in use by humans and their allies throughout the run of Stargate, none is more strongly identified with the series than the P90 SMG from Belgian manufacturer FN Herstal. The weapon was originally designed primarily for close-range self-defense by vehicle crews and other at-risk support personnel. However, it became popular with special forces and counter-terrorism groups as an offensive weapon. As Jack O'Neil describes it, a weapon of war.

Several features of the P90 made it an excellent choice for the series standard submachine gun. Futuristic look; completely ambidextrous design; and especially, brass ejected straight down when firing, which allowed flexible positioning of actors in a scene without concerns about where the spent blank shells would be flying.

This is a Tokyo Marui electric airsoft P90, equipped here with a magazine of dummy 5.7x28mm rounds, reflex sight, and a side-mounted tactical light, which was present on almost every Stargate P90. (In the series, some also had left-sided attachments, such as a laser aiming module or Kull disruptor). When equipped with a magazine of 6mm airsoft, this piece is capable of firing 600+ rounds per minute in full auto mode.
