original movie prop
Season 5 - No single weapon has raised the stakes more than the Dornian illuminated capsule. Simply put, it holds the key to human survival in the form of Espheni eradication. As the Dornian who appears in the form of Rebecca Mason (Jennifer Ferrin) explains "it will exterminate all of them, rid your entire planet of Espheni. For all time." Season 5, Episode 9 (05:45 minutes) - Since this capsule saves civilization as Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) knows it today, it receives quite a splashy onscreen debut. As Tom stands on a serene lakeside stretch of sand, an enormous alien airship unexpectedly rises from beneath the water and hovers about 100 feet offshore. Tom turns left, to see the Dornian who always takes the form of Rebecca Mason (Jennifer Ferrin). She explains that she is the sole remaining survivor of the Dornian species and is determined to exterminate the Espheni. As if on cue, a living creature similar to a sea anemone, drops from the Dornian airship and jettisons to shore. The Dornian urges Tom to trust her and use the illuminated capsule lodged within the creature to rid the Earth of the Espheni, forever. The question is, what will the capsule do to humans? Season 5, Episode 9 (20:59 minutes) - Anne Glass-Mason (Moon Bloodgood) experiments with the Dornian capsule, to find that a vicious living creature lives inside, but Tom remains undaunted to discover its potential. Season 5, Episode 9 (25:24 minutes) - Anne and Tom conduct further experiments, with Marty (Todd Weeks) and Cochise (Doug Jones). Marty explains "The mucous it excretes is nasty stuff, and it replenishes on its own," and Anne fears it might kill untold humans right along with the Espheni. Cochise interjects that they could possibly alter the material within the capsule, to render it safe to humans. Season 5, Episode 9 (32:15 & 34:16 minutes) - Anne and Marty work on altering the Dornia capsule, to make it safe for humans, but will it still kill the Espheni? Season 5, Episode 9 (34:51 minutes) - In a climactic scene, the Dornian capsule gets its first field test. Lexi Glass-Mason (Scarlett Byrne) is held in a 2nd Mass prison, as her timely reappearance raises suspicion about her being an Espheni who took on Lexi’s form as subterfuge. During his interrogation of her, Tom approaches Lexi’s cell. She suddenly grabs him with such force, that she pulls him right through the fence surrounding her prison cell and then renders him helpless while choking him with both hands. Colonel Weaver and 2nd Mass troops burst in, along with Ben Mason (Connor Jessup) and Anne. As Lexi strangles the life out of Tom, Colonel Weaver yells, "Just throw it!" Ben nails Lexi in the chest with the capsule, and she crumples to the flood dying. Colonel Weaver exclaim, "My god, it works!" The humans now have a working weapon to annihilate the Espheni once and for all. But will Tom be able to unleash it in time, even with the Dornian's help? After all, Lexi's last words dripped with foreboding menace, "We're onto you." The Dornia illuminated capsule is comprised of two pieces, a 6-inch silicon tube with an opening at top and a creature-like wand that embeds within the tube which illuminates via an "on/off" switch. Made of silicon and plastic. Approx. 6" long.
