A complete Necromonger costume worn in the third chapter of the Furyan renegade’s adventures, Riddick: Rule The Dark. Riddick (Vin Diesel), betrayed by the Necromongers and left for dead on an abandoned planet, returns to his wild, animalistic side to survive. But when mercs from all corners of the verse descend on him to take his head, the tables are soon turned, and Riddick becomes the hunter out for revenge.
This costume and others like it can be seen being worn by the guards outside Riddick's chambers as he "revels" in his role as Lord Marshall, with additional footage of them visible in the director's cut of the film. Made for and used in Chronicles of Riddick, this particular costume was worn by Patrick Keegan in Riddick: Rule The Dark, and was heavily distressed for the production with an array of battle damage – a badge of honour for any veteran Necromonger.
The costume consists of a helmet with a cowl and rubber mouth guard, with shoulder armour, breast plate, back plate, arm armour and cod piece all made of hard rubber. Underneath the armour is a black lycra body suit which has pieces of rubber leg armour attached to it. The leather boots have rubber armour attached to the shins and toes and the leather gloves also have armour attached to them. The whole ensemble has been repainted since Chronicles of Riddick with the classic silver paint work giving way to rust spots and pitting from head to toe, giving the costume an abused, menacing look.
The costume has been clearly marked with the performer’s name to ensure continuity in use, and besides the heavy intentional distressing performed for use on the film, the costume remains in a very good production-used condition.
