Day of the Dead, Day of the Dead Mask

From the 1985 George Romero classic Day of the Dead this is an original screen used background zombie mask. This mask is from the scene in which the platform elevator descends into the silo bearing a mob of zombies. The mask can be clearly seen in publicity photos taken that day (as can director Romero’s less-than-enthusiastic expression), and also in a European poster for the film which features a behind-the-scenes photo of several such masks on a shelf in “Saviniland,” the FX crew’s workshop.
