In the Myst video game series by Cyan, Inc., the D'ni are a race of humanoid beings, previously untouched by humanity, who developed the center of an enormous multi-universe 10000-year-old empire within a gargantuan cavern in present-day New Mexico. Their main contribution to themselves was the creation of portal-like "linking" books, connecting to millions of worlds which they described by writing in these books. Because of their civilization life mostly being confined within the cavern, their eyes developed a weakness to strong light, which they counteracted in these universes with a pair of complex goggles, much like sunglasses.
Within the game series, multiple characters wear these goggles, most notably the protagonist main character "Atrus" and his antagonist megalomaniacal father "Gehn", but they are primarily featured within the game "Riven: The Sequel to Myst", and "Myst V: End of Ages"
However, the goggle props are simply humble leather, metal, fabric, and plastic, and lack the complexity described in the "Myst: The Book of _____" backstory novel series. Furthermore, the screen-used props were modified to appear worn and aged. The goggles were identified by brand in 2012 by myself, after extensive research over one year: http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25775
