Star Trek: Voyager, Compression Phaser Rifle
original movie prop weapon
Unusual and bulky but powerful rifle, seen exclusively in the Voyager series. Highly effective in close quarters combat against multiple clustered enemies, in part due to its wide beam mode. Resin and plastic, with illuminating spotlight.
Note that the triangular area immediately behind the rear grip and trigger has not been cut out, making it a very awkward weapon to hold and fire, with no good place to put your thumb. This odd design 'feature' was present on Voyager compression rifles from the start, with thumbholes added to some props later in the series.
The first compression rifles also had the top element configured as a scope, with the large end facing to the rear. Some later versions had this piece reversed, now functioning as a light, as with mine and as seen below in sixth season episode Fury.
