Vincent goes deep down into the caverns to get a crystal to give to Catherine as a gift for it being a year since they had first met.
Vincent gives the crystal to "Mouse" to make a pendant of it, which he does and hangs it on a very delicate silver chain made of oval links. Catherine wears this throughout most of the series thereafter.
