Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy's Sword (Blessed Sword)

In the Season 2 episode Becoming Part 1 the Blessed Sword was given to Buffy by Kendra as a weapon to slay the revived demon Acathla. In Becoming Part 2, Buffy uses the sword to duel with Angelus before impaling him and sending him to the demon dimension. The original prop was a modified El Cid Tizona sword, a 'wall hanger' produced in Spain, primarily by the Marto company. Part of the hand guard was removed and the blade swapped out for a narrow duelling rapier blade. There are currently no flat 'gilded' finish hand guard Tizona's on the market, but this may have been available at the time of production, or inherited from another production. It appears that two different props (or at least blades) were used on the show. When Kendra presents Buffy with the sword in Sunnydale High's library, the blade has engravings and scuff marks visible. These are not present on the sword that Buffy later uses to duel with Angelus.

My replica is a Marto with the decorative embellishments on the pommel and handguard sanded flat, the hilt rewrapped and a 3cm rapier blade installed.
