Aliens, Aliens Promotional Lifesize Egg
original production material
An alien egg used for promotion of the 1986 James Cameron Sci-fi classic Aliens. Cast adrift for almost sixty years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) reluctantly joins a platoon of hardened Colonial Marines in the hopes of saving the residents of a colony infested with grotesque humanoid aliens.
The egg was crafted from production molds especially for use at the movie's promotional events, most notably the VHS home release. Made of dense rubber, this hollow egg features the four ‘petals’, that open out when a facehugger senses prey and has glue around the top, added to look like fake slime. The rough exterior of the egg has been finished in brown and black paint, with numerous veins throughout. The piece has some minor marks to the exterior and remains in very good condition.
