Robin of Sherwood, Albion sword, blank blade
replica movie prop weapon
Robin was entrusted with Albion, one of the seven swords of Wayland, charged
with the power of light and darkness.
The prop used in the first year changed, in part allegedly due to the sword going missing,
but it was recorded that the actor had constant problems with the blades
wire wrapped handle and rough 'jewelled' hilt which was constantly cutting the actors
hands up. The design was drastically reshaped for the next two series to a wider and more robust sword. The design of the first sword was from an old dress style stage sword, used in a number of period dramas through the 70s. Notably in Arthur of the Britons, another HTV production.
Now extremely hard to find. The slender, long blade, brass pommel bolt and handle comes with its original leather and brass chape sheath. Minus the jewels which must have been an optional extra when they changed over the blade for one with a fuller. This also has a brass stopper pommel rather than the plain wheel pommel.
