The Addams Family, ADDAMS FAMILY 1964 VULTURE HOOD ORNAMENT figure CAR MASCOT original Automobile PROP
original movie prop
This unusual Vulture figure is an original prop used in the production of the TV classic THE ADDAMS FAMILY (Filmways 1964-66). The vulture was made to be used as a hood ornament or radiator cap on the Addams' antique automobile (see pics- ABOVE RIGHT, and below)...but would also show up as a shelf prop on the series, as seen in Jackie Coogan's room in the episode UNCLE FESTER, TYCOON (above LOWER pic). This vulture is large and intricately handmade of several materials to appear on screen as chromed metal; a one-of-a-kind TV prop that I obtained straight from an original source. ---- back lot charlie -- Above, Gomez is seen behind the wheel of the family car, as the family looks on. Note this vulture on top of the car's radiator (left).
In the youtube clip above (from the episode PORTRAIT OF GOMEZ) the hood ornament can be seen on the car in several scenes, as Gomez goes for his driver's license, starting at 5:20 on the counter.
