The Third Doctor's sonic, probably created during his exile on Earth, was larger and more detailed than the simple penlight-like device his earlier incarnations carried. The basic emitter on the Mk II, the design of which would persist through the next two versions, could be switched out for different heads with different functions.

This machined aluminum replica, with anodized emitter ring, features an accurate 10 second digital sound clip which activates when the body is retracted into the base.
