James Bond 007 - GoldenEye
Opening pre title sequence sequence filmed on the Verzasca Dam, Lugano, Switzerland, in March 1995.
Bond stunt double Wayne Michaels performs a bungee jump down the wall of the 750ft foot high dam into a
rock stream valley below- a world record.
In order to avoid him being torn to pieces by nails protruding from the concrete wall, a crane arm was used
to give greater clearance between him and the concrete. In order to get the shot where he fires his pitongun
(above), to anchor himself at the bottom of his jump, he was lowered the full height of the dam on a climbing
rope.
The stunt was engineered and co-ordinated by Duig Boston, Tim Fell, and Ulrich Strange of The Oxford
Stunt Factory, pictured right with Wayne Michaels on the top of the dam immediately after the jump.
The bungee rope used in this sequence was cut up into short lengths and sold to collectors of James
Bond memorabilia. They have since become highly prized souvenirs
