The BBC commissioned two adaptions of M.R James's "Whistle And I'll Come To You My Lad" 

The proviso is a fussy academic happens upon a strange bone whistle whilst exploring a Knights Templar Cemetery on the East Anglian Coastline.

When blown the whistle unleashes a sinister supernatural force which terrorising the owner.

John Miller adapted the 1968 version starring Michael Hordern

This is a relatively faithful replica of the whistle from this production, made by an ex-BBC Prop Man.

It is made of metal made to look like aged bone. On the surface is crudely scratched:

"Quis est iste qui venit" ("Who is this who is coming?")
