The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, Copperstone UV-1 Bottle Concept Drawing
original production artwork
“Yabba-dabba-doo!”
This 8.5” x 11” original prop drawing in marker by artist Ron Croci was made for the production of the 2000 prehistoric prequel The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.
The colorfully cheeky sketch shows an early prototype rendering of a Copperstone UV-1 suntan lotion bottle with its accompanying cavegirl logo. The stone-age sunscreen can be seen in the movie during the “Viva Rock Vegas” montage.
Croci worked in Hollywood for decades as an illustrator, storyboard artist, and conceptual artist on feature film and television productions, including Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), The Blues Brothers (1980), Magnum P.I. (1980-1988), Ghostbusters (1984), Frasier (1993-2004), Face/Off (1997), and Bad Santa (2003). He additionally helped design hundreds of commercials for companies like 7-Up and Baskin-Robbins, as well several books, such as Simon & Schuster’s 1983 publication of Hans Christian Anderson’s Fairy Tales and Mattel’s Nancy Drew: Mummy’s the Word Tangled Tales electronic reading game.
