Silent Hill, “B” Camera Digital Clapperboard Face

original production material

A 6” x 11” “B” camera digital clapperboard face used during the making of Silent Hill (2006) with remnants of marker handwriting from the set. The back contains strips of Velcro where the face would have attached to the digital clapperboard. In addition to the films title, the acrylic slate displays the names of director Christophe Gans and cinematographer Dan Laustsen.

Based on the Konami psychological horror video game series, the movie adaptation was shot over a period of three months, from April 25 to July 22, 2005, in Toronto sound stages and on location in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Manitoba. Production designer Carol Spier, a frequent collaborator of David Cronenberg, brought the nightmarish town to life, while composer Akira Yamaoka of Team Silent, the Japanese developers behind the original game tetralogy, supervised to ensure that the project faithfully captured the same tensely disquieted atmosphere.
